En dan begint het quilten......

Ik kijk er altijd naar uit en als het dan zover is dan slaat de twijfel weer toe. Ken je dat? weken ben je met een mystery bezig, dan volgt de ontknoping en maak je de top af. Helemaal blij!! En dan begint het; hoe zal ik dit quilten, hoe kom ik langs de talloze samenkomende naden, heb ik nog wel genoeg spierballen om die quilt onder mijn machine door te krijgen met het patroon wat ik van tevoren op papier zo leuk kan bedenken, maar gaat het er in de praktijk ook zo uit zien? pfff, ik ploeter voort met mijn keltisch symbool in FreemotionQuilting.

I always look forward to the things to come, but when they come closer, I start to doubt myself. Familiar? For weeks I've done the work on the mystery, than there is the reveal and I've finished the top. Happy days! But than, there it is, how do I ever get this quilted, how do I get through a gazillion seems that come together in one place, do I have enough musclepower to get this thing through my machine and finally; does the quilting pattern I came up with on paper look as good when quilted? pfffff I plough along with my keltic symbol pattern in Freemotion Quilting!

Celtic Solstice reveal

Daar is ie dan, na de verrassing op nieuwjaarsdag de uitvoering van hoe de blokken allemaal aan elkaar horen. Ik ben blij met het resultaat! Ziet er goed uit, weinig problemen met het aansluiten van de blokken omdat ik dit jaar als leerdoel had gesteld dat het allemaal precies passend gemaakt moest worden! Dat heeft zich wel uitbetaald. Nu nadenken over de kleur in de rand....

Here it is, after the surprise reveal on new years day, I've put the whole thing together. It is looking really good. I'm happy with my choice of colours, it's nice and vibrent. This year I wanted to make shure that everything measured the exact size. I can be a bit inaccurate and not care about it. Well, it paid of. Now I am thinking about border color..........

Celtic Solstice - 5 en leader ender challenge

Ik weet het, het is pas zondag, maar stap 5 is klaar!!!!! Deze was dan ook niet zo ingewikkeld. Omdat ik ongeveer 80% maak van de kleinste variant hoefde ik maar 80 (??!!) blokken te maken. Dit is gelukt dus. Wel met een kleine hik gisteravond. Mijn ondertransport wilde ineens niet meer. Pffff. Machine open gemaakt dikke stofwolken verwijderd waarna de machine weer als een zonnetje liep.
I know, it is only sunday, but I've finished step 5!!! This wasn't a very complicated step. I only do about 80% of the smaller version of the mystery, which means only 80 blocks to finish. I've done it! I had a small problem though. The feeddogs of my machine stopped coöperating all of a sudden. So I opened the machine, removed a lot of dust threads and other dirt and I was off again.

Naast de mystery heb ik ook de leader ender challenge lopen. Die groeit ook aardig door de weken heen.
Along side the mystery I also work on my leader ender challenge which is growing nicely as well.

Celtic Solstice - 4

We gaan lekker, oftewel, we hebben nog altijd geen achterstand. Ik ben bezig met stap 4, ik heb inmiddels in het eventjes na mijn werk ongeveer 1/3 deel in elkaar gezet. Morgen nog een dagje werken en dan pas weer op oudjaarsdag. Geen problemen dus tot op heden! Ik vind de kleuren veelbelovend en lekker fel, heel anders dan ik gewend ben om te maken.
I'm doing fine, or I still don't have a fall back. I'm doning the work on step 4, I've build about 1/3 of the blocks needed, right after I got home from work. I stille have to work tomorrow, then I'm off till december 31-st. So no problems so far. I love the vibrant colours, I usually don't do that.

Celtics Solstice - 3

Mystery en de dagen voor kerst heeft wel wat. Vandaag ben ik wel gaan werken, maar deel 3 is minder werk dan de eerste 2 delen. Komt goed dus deze week! Nog een paar strijken, nog 15 pinwheels maken, dan ben ik klaar!

Mystery and the days before x-mas have got something special, although I startend work Today, part 3 is not as much work as part 1 and 2. I'll be alright this week! Just af we more to iron, and I have to put together 15 pinwheels, and I'll be done!

Affo van een tijdje geleden/ Finished project from a while ago

Een poosje geleden schreef ik al dat ik een quilt had gemaakt maar dat het een kado was en dat ik dat nog niet kon laten zien. Nu, het is gearriveerd (in Zwitserland) en ik kan hem dus laten zien. Het leuke is dat het een co-productie is tussen een zus van mij en ik zelf. Zij heeft de blokken geborduurd, ik heb de quilt verder gemaakt. Erg leuk geworden al zeg ik het zelf!! Uiteraard is het een babyquilt, voor weer een achterneefje.

A while ago I wrote a post and said that I made another quilt but it was a present and was shipped abroad. Well, we got word it has arrived (Switzerland) so now I can show the quilt. The nice thing about this quilt is that my sister did the embroidery in the middle with the little bunnies and I made the quilt. Needless to say, it's a babyquilt for a second cousin.

Celtic Solstice - 2

De tijd gaat hard, ik kan bijna niet geloven dat het alweer Sinterklaas geweest is en op Skyradio alleen maar kerstmuziek gedraaid wordt. Wauw!! Stap 1 is klaar en stap 2 is voor de helft gedaan. Stap 2 is wel een stuk intensiever dan stap 1. De stof netjes recht snijden en geleidevoet van mijn Janome Horizon helpen mij om exacte blokken te maken. Zoals ik bij stap 1 al schreef; ik wil er elke keer weer wat van leren. Ik ben behoorlijk tevreden met mijzelf over stap 1 en de eerste helft van stap 2, ik wordt helemaal blij van de foto! Nog 40 te gaan.... Fijne week.

Time is passing by fast. I can't believe that Sinterklaas has left the country (dutch holiday and no, it is not Santa Claus) and on Sky radio it`s x-mas music back to back. Wow!! I'm done with Step 1 and half way done on step 2. Like I said in my blogpost step 1; I try to learn a lesson with every Bonnie mystery. This time it's all about accuracy. I spent more time concentrating on the cutting of the fabric and I love the 1/4" sewingfoot on my Janome Horizon. It's relatively easy to sew accurate. I'm pretty happy with the result so far as shown. Now all I need to do is make 40 more in the rest of the week... Have a nice week.
